Support of incorporating nature-based solutions into Mongolia’s NDC and setting up the initial building blocks for carbon pricing and trading as a tool to achieve its NDC and other long-term decarbonization goals..

PMI Program Objectives:

• Phase I - Building blocks for carbon pricing instruments: build knowledge base of the potential role that different carbon pricing instruments can play to help Mongolia identify the appropriate mix of instruments for achieving its emission reduction targets.
• Phase II - Technical deep dive and solutions on priority areas: deepen GoM’s technical knowledge and capacity around priority areas identified in Phase I, and identify specific, concrete solutions to put in place the institutional, policy and system requirements for accessing carbon markets and/or implementing domestic carbon pricing instruments.
