The World Bank Group launched the global, multi-donor Partnership for Market Implementation Facility (PMIF) as an umbrella program in 2021 to contribute to the acceleration of global decarbonization efforts. The PMIF aims to be a leading initiative for helping client countries design and deploy carbon pricing policies/programs appropriate to their domestic context and compatible with their sustainable development priorities; and catalyzing the development of the next generation of international carbon markets.

The Partnership for Market Implementation (PMI assists
countries to design, pilot, and implement pricing instruments
aligned with their development priorities.
CPLC brings together leaders across government, private
sector and civil society with the goal of placing effective carbon
pricing policies that maintain competitiveness, create jobs,
encourage innovation and deliver meaningful emissions
reductions.
CW supports countries to build the next generation carbon
markets by creating an enabling environment, develop
regulatory framework and develop common and efficient
market infrastructure with associated governance arrangements.
CPI expands global understanding of carbon pricing with
analysis on key aspects relating to programs and initiatives
around the world, and as such, contribute to shaping the
consideration and development of this important agenda.
I4C is the World bank’s flagship event on climate action and a
global gathering of leaders from government, industry, finance,
and technology, to envision the next generation of climatesmart solutions with potentials to tranform the global economy.
The World Bank is a core partner of organizing the Regional
Climate Weeks (RCWs) which is a unique collaborative platform
where both governments and non-governmental organizations
stakeholders gather to address the gamut of relevant climate
issues under one umbrella.
Compact with Africa – Green Business Fund
The Compact with Africa (CwA) Green Business Fund supports
locally led climate-smart initiatives, with a focus on small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa, using coordinated
and country-specific appoach.
