PMI branded image for technical workshop

This two-day - two hours each day - virtual workshop will discuss what role carbon pricing plays to support implementing country nationally determined contributions (NDCs), important considerations for selecting and implementing carbon pricing instruments (CPIs) and how to consider the role of other policies. Drawing on case studies from around the world, it will also identify some of the main opportunities and obstacles faced by countries with using more than one carbon pricing instrument.

The workshop will follow an interactive format, enabling participants to contribute their own experiences.

  • Session 1. Role of carbon pricing instruments in the context of implementing NDCs under the Paris Agreement
  • Session 2. Considerations in identification and implementation of CPIs
  • Session 3. Implementing multiple carbon pricing instruments: Why and how and what we have learned
  • Session 4. Considerations and challenges: How to proceed?
