The World Bank’s Compact with Africa Green Business Fund (CwA-GBF) and IFC’s Africa Green Banking Academy jointly hosted a full-day workshop for Financial Institutions on Climate Finance for SMEs in Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, and Senegal, on the 12th, 16th, and 18th of October, respectively.
The workshops aimed to provide relevant industry players, including banks, Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs), regulators, industry associations, and other financial institutions, with knowledge and practical guidance on effectively supporting SMEs in their transition towards climate-resilient and sustainable practices.
The workshops were successful and well-received, with an enthusiastic participation of 58 attendees from 31 institutions. The feedback received from the audience was positive. These workshops are the first of a series of workshops that the CwA GBF intends to organize to build the capacity of institutions within the SME ecosystem of its member states. The CwA-GBF team plans to roll out a few more workshops in 2024.
